അണ്ണാറക്കണ്ണൻ തിന്നു ശേഷിച്ച മാമ്പഴത്തെ,
പങ്കിട്ടുകഴിച്ചുള്ള മധുരിക്കും ഓർമ്മകൾ...!

കണ്ണീർപൂക്കളായ് ഗദ്ഗദങ്ങൾ.
വർണ്ണങ്ങളകലുമീ പൂക്കളെന്നും
നിൻ സുഗന്ധങ്ങളാൽ നിറഞ്ഞിടുന്നു.
കഥകളുണർത്തുമീ ദളങ്ങളിലെന്നും,
കരുണാക്കടാക്ഷം ചൊരിഞ്ഞീടണേ.

ഹാ! പുഷ്പമേ, നിൻ മുഖമെന്തേയിന്നു വല്ലാതെ
വീർത്തു വിളറിയിരിക്കുന്നു നോക്കുകിൽ;
മധുപനെക്കാണാത്തതിൻ സങ്കടമോ,
അതോ സഹസ്രാംശു നിന്നെയിന്നു നോക്കാത്തതിനാലോ!

(ജാലകവാതിലിനപ്പുറം ഇലകൊഴിഞ്ഞ ശിഖരങ്ങൾ നീലാകാശം ത്തിലേക്കുയർത്തി നില്ക്കുന്ന ഒരു മാമരമുണ്ട്. അതിന്റെ ശിഖരങ്ങളിലേക്ക് നോക്കിയിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ശിവതാണ്ഡവത്തിന്റെ നടനമുദ്രകൾ മനസ്സിൽ തെളിയുന്നു. ഡമരുനാദം സിരകളിലലിഞ്ഞു പരക്കുന്നതായി തോന്നുന്നു.)
